Dear Friends,

Advent is fast approaching and the end of the year will be here before we know it. I wish to thank those faithful members and adherents for their support during our pulpit and organist vacancy.

Since February, we have had many fine speakers for pulpit supply. Following Glenda’s retirement as organist/choir leader, I was able to arrange guest organists who were also able to share their time and talents to enrich our worship services.

As clerk, I have great concerns regarding our weekly attendance and financial support. In the coming year, it is likely that we will be calling a minister to serve Knox and Limehouse. Our whole membership needs to be involved with the life of this congregation in order for us to move forward with this next step.

During this advent season, I encourage all our members and adherents to celebrate with great joy, the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Your Session is arranging the Christmas Eve Service, 9 pm. As usual, the offering from this service will be donated to our local food banks in Acton and Georgetown.

We have a number in our midst who are facing medical issues or illnesses. May God’s healing grace, touch all who are unable to join with the congregation during this joyous time of the year. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

May Love, Joy and Peace fill your heart this Christmas Season.

Blessings,

Bill  Karn , Session Clerk

Message from your Interim Moderator

Advent is upon us and with it the hopeful waiting for the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
As people of the covenant we are used to hopeful waiting. Let us give the Search Team some leeway as they search diligently for your new minister. It is easy to get a warm body to fill your pulpit but it takes time and patient effort to get the right person. We were blessed with a large number of applications and the Search Team have faithfully gone through each profile carefully and with prayerful diligence.
We hope we see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have narrowed the search down, at this point, to four applicants. So enfold the team members with your prayers and your kindness and your patience, they are working hard on your behalf.
“Love is patient and love is kind” (1 Corinthians 13:4) let us remember those words as we wait for the Advent of the Saviour of the world and as we wait for the advent of a new minister to lead Knox, Georgetown, and Limehouse to new possibilities.
May the hope, peace, joy and love of the Christmas season surround each one of you every day.

Blessings, Rev. Wendy Lampman

Limehouse Cemetery

At the same time as the shed restoration, trees were removed at the iron fence and along the side road property line. A foundation was replaced and two sets of corner stones were installed for plots sold during this year. A ground marker was also set in place. A temporary barrier fence was erected along the retaining wall. The cemetery grounds were given a fall cleanup by our lawn care contractor.

I will light candles light candles this Christmas;
Candles of joy, despite all sadness;
Candles of hope, where despair keeps watch;
Candles of courage, for fears ever present;
Candles of peace for tempest tossed days;
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens;
Candles of love to inspire all my living;
Candles that burn all the year long.

Together we can pray for little Matthew...

A letter from Knox Oakville,

Good Morning Fellow Presbyters,

I am writing this email at the request of Sean Foster, our Clerk of Presbytery.

By now many of you will have heard that Sean and Bonnie Foster's son, Matthew (age 2 1/2 years) was diagnosed with Leukaemia last week.  Matthew is currently in hospital undergoing treatment, which includes receiving chemotherapy.  He is likely to be hospitalized for at least six weeks, but this could be longer, depending on how well he responds to treatment.

Clearly this has come as a devastating blow to Sean and Bonnie, along with their other two children, Erin and Shannon.  Sean has asked me to contact you to ask for your prayers.  He has created a blog, which can be accessed at the following link www.caringbridge.org/visit/matthewseanfoster.  Sean is going to keep this blog updated with progress reports, and there is also a facility whereby you can leave comments.  As you can appreciate the family have a lot to contend with, and while they covet your prayers, they have asked that for the moment contact me limited to your responses on the blog.

In the days, weeks, and months that lie ahead the Foster Family are going to need our continued support, and I am sure there will be lots of practical ways in which we can do that.  In the meantime please pray for healing and wholeness for Matthew, and for courage and strength for Sean and Bonnie, Erin, and Shannon.

Yours in Christ,

Mike Marsden
Knox, Oakville
