ANNOUNCEMENTS

We welcome you, our Church family, to worship this morning. May God continue to bless us here at Limehouse.

Financial Update
Limehouse Church is not permitted to" piggy-back" onto Knox's investments with the PCC. The Ontario Security Commission's rules are specific that no individual congregation can be an investor in the CIF fund without the required $150 000.  The Church Managers are investigating alternative investment options as discussed at our congregational meeting in March.
Ray Denny, Chairman
Board of Managers

Limehouse Church will be closed for the month of July. Worship with us again on August 2nd at 9:30 a.m.  During July, Knox will be having their worship services at 10:00.

BBQ Sunday August 9th 5 to 7 p.m.
Our church and Limehouse Hall are jointly raising funds for David and Kristin Cairns. Join us at the church for hamburgers, hotdogs, cold drinks and fellowship. All donations will be presented to David and Kristin to help with the rebuilding of their home after the fire in December 2013. Bring your lawn chair!

Cemetery Update
The Trustees and Board of Managers will be having a small wooden garden shed erected at the west end of the cemetery. Much needed storage for our contracted services will be provided. Cremation opening items, plywood storage and tools will be made available with no need for church accessibility by our outside contractors. Walls and roof colours will blend with the neighbour's workshop and our existing buildings.

MOMENT FOR MISSION -  Sunday June 21
Responding to God’s call for justice
PresbyteriansSharing supports Justice Ministries as it works with congregations to sow seeds of hope and respond to the justice imperatives of the gospel. Staff work with churches and presbyteries that are caring for creation, advocating for stronger social programs to assist low income neighbours and building up relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. In June, congregations are invited mark the closing event of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Aboriginal Day Sunday, June 21, 2015.

The Lending Journey It is with great disappointment that The Lending Journey, the charity under whose auspices Rev. Steve and Kathy went to Nicaragua in April, has had to suspend its operations in Nicaragua.  There is no one “easy fix” factor that led to this decision; it was through an accumulation of factors that, unfortunately, can not be overcome at this time.  Please pray for Vince Vetro and the rest of the Board of the David/Jonathan Project (the larger overseeing organization) in this difficult time.

Leader: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
(The prayer begins by approaching the aspect of God as Creator, Father, Life-giver, being thankful for all that we have been given, especially the gift of Jesus Christ.  The segment concludes with words to the effect of…)

Leader: We join with the whole creation to lift our hearts in joyful praise, saying together…

All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
  Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

(The prayer continues, with a focus now on Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer, and how He gave us the communion meal to unify us in one heart, one spirit, and one faith.  This segment concludes as…)

Leader: We proclaim the mystery of faith, saying:
All: Christ has died.
Christ has risen.
Christ will come again.

We come to the final segment of the prayer, addressing the Holy Spirit, moving from thankfulness for what has been done to intercessions regarding what may yet be.  A time of silent supplication may mark this time, after which we conclude with The Lord’s Prayer (debts).

Hear us as we pray boldly with the words that He taught us as we say together, Our Father…Amen.

Educating for Peace in Afghanistan

“I became a teacher to serve the country. After three decades of war, Afghanistan needs reconstruction through education,” says Mirwas, the head teacher at a school in Laghman province. Presbyterian World Service & Development’s girls education project in Afghanistan is not only working to raise awareness about the importance of education for all children, it is also building the capacity of students and teachers to handle social, political, cultural and human rights issues. In a country struggling to rebuild after decades of conflict, female students and their teachers are learning about child rights and human rights—an incredibly important issue. The focus on education for girls is helping to raise a generation of young leaders who want to be teachers, lawyers, human rights workers and politicians. These girls will be forces of renewal and peace for their communities and their country.
