· Peter Barrow's Birthday Luncheon - please join us in the large hall at Knox following
the service on Sunday for a luncheon to celebrate Peter Barrow's 90th Birthday.
Everyone is welcome.
· Summer Services: Limehouse will be closed during the month of July and all members are
invited to attend Knox, services will occur in the Large Hall at 10 am.
· Even though we are
closed for the month of July, expenses of approximately $2300.00 will
still need to be covered. If you could manage to add an additional amount
to the offering today or arrange to drop off cheques to Cathy Brown for
July, it would be much appreciated.

· For
Rev. Peter Barrow as we celebrate his birthday, and all other
"retired" ministers who continue to do the things of ministry (just
not full-time!).
· For students and
teachers everywhere as school ends for the summer, and especially for those not
headed back in the fall due to graduation or retirement
· For the 38,000
federal and provincial inmates (sentenced) across Canada, that they may turn
their backs on life as it was and embrace new hope for a life that may yet be
· For those dreaming
of vacation, that they may find "Sabbath rest" instead of travel
stress!

The Reverend Peter Barrow
Minister
of Knox Presbyterian 1972-2001
On
Sunday June 26th
There
will be a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian

The Reverend Peter Barrow, BD
Peter Barrow served as the Minister at Knox
from 1972-2001. He was born in
Derbyshire, England in 1932, but soon moved to Notinghamshire. He lived through German bombings near his
home as a teenager during World War II and then joined the Royal Air Force at age
17 and became a Flying Officer and would serve for three years.
He holds a BA and a BD from Trinity Theological
College at the University of Glasglow. He
married his wife Carol in Glasglow. They
had three children.
He was ordained in January 1961. He served as
an Associate Minister at the Eastwood Parish Church in Glasglow with a
congregation of 2500. After his marriage, he became the Minister of a Church of
Scotland congregation in Dennyloanhead in Sterlingshire at the combined parish
of Dennyloanhead and St. Helen’s, High Bonnybridge where he served for 11 years
with a congregation of about 1600. After moving to Canada he became the 15th
Minister of Knox Presbyterian. He served in this position for 29 years from
1972-2001. During this time, he worked
with five different Clerks of Session, five different treasures, with at least
seven different secretaries, and four different organists. Of the 18 different Ministers that Knox has
had since 1860, he is the longest serving.
He was awarded the Citizen of the Year award by
the Lions Club of Georgetown in 1975.
Some of his various activities included: First
Chairman of the County Children’s Hearings in Sterlingshire, Scotland; Set up
Contact Centre and trained volunteers; Executive Member of the Halton Region
Human Service Council; Driver for the Georgetown Cancer Society; Governor for
the Oaklands Regional Centre for the Mentally Retarded in Oakville; Director of
Georgetown YMCA/YWCA; Chaplain for Brampton Prison; Padre for Branch 120, Royal
Canadian Legion, Georgetown; Georgetown Air Cadets; and the Volunteer
Firefighters, He was also trained as a
firefighter as well; President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown; and board
member of the Halton Hills Legal Clinic.
