• Advent is only TWO WEEKS AWAY! We will be decorating the church after worship NEXT Sunday, so if you can stay to help out next week, that would be great!

• Congregational Meeting / Communion – In THREE weeks, on December 5th, we will be celebrating Holy Communion during worship. We will also have a congregational meeting after worship to consider our finances as we prepare to head into 2022. We will also be appointing Cathy Brown as our new Church Treasurer!

• Food Bank Toonie Jar – We have realized that the Toonie Jar, by which we make donations to the local food banks, has not been being used this year due to COVID! If you wish to make a donation to the food banks through the church, please include it in your offering with a clear note regarding direction before the end of the year!

• We are still looking for an Organist / Pianist to lead music on Sundays – Kathleen Boose can do it, but we’d rather give someone else (such as a young piano student) the opportunity to play and gain some experience (not to mention earn a little money for their work!).

• Do you have a hymn or a Christmas carol that you’ve been wanting to hear or sing? Please submit such requests to Rev. Steve and he will slot it into the upcoming worship services!

• Pray also for:

o The crews who are putting up all of the Christmas decorations we see everywhere,

o The merchants (and their staffs) as they prepare for the onslaught of Christmas shoppers,

o Charities as they gear up for their Christmas fundraising / item distribution campaigns,

o Those who are going to be needing help to make ends meet, and not just at Christmas time.

• Today is Reformation Sunday! 504 years ago, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther (statue is above) posted 95 objections to the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Luther wanted to reform the Church, not split it, but split it he did, and today we remember what the Reformation itself became based on.

• Evangel Hall – Thank you to everyone who gave items for Evangel Hall! Rev. Steve’s vehicle was full to the brim, and the volunteers were very grateful for everything!

Thus, it’s not a pleasant book by any means, nor an easy one to read! If you decide to read through it and find yourself with questions, please don’t hesitate to send them along to Rev. Steve! He would love to help you work through them.

we thank God for the harvest. True, we’ve already been enjoying fresh vegetables for some time, but

by the end of October, most of the crops are off for another year. Enjoy your turkey, but don’t forget

to thank God for everything!

• Session is reminded that we are meeting on Thursday at 7:00 in the church basement.

• We congratulate Tim and Margaret (Miller) Somerville who were married at Limehouse on Saturday,

October 8th. Blessings on your future together!

While we pray that we will one day be able to do communion properly again, with the sharing of the elements, until that time, we simply remember that in the breaking of the bread and in the sharing of the cup, we remember that Jesus gave His life for our sake, giving us a portion in His death and His resurrection! Come, taste and see that the Lord is good!

• We are starting a series of messages based on the book of Job today. • The Townsend-Smith Hospice Foundation is seeking to raise a hospice facility within the bounds of North Halton (with an eye to having it north of Milton, so that Georgetown and Acton residents can easily access it as well). This Thursday, October 7th, at the Italian Cultural Centre of Milton, there will be a candle-lighting ceremony to honour those who have sought hospice care in their community and to express support for access to residential hospice palliative care in North Halton. ·       160 years!  It’s not the huge celebration that we wanted, but we still celebrate sixteen decades of living and working and worshiping together in this place! 

·       In-person services are available again!  However, we are still livestreaming from Knox on Sunday mornings for those who are not able or not certain that it’s safe to come out for worship.  If we are pre-empted by YouTube’s algorithms, we may not be livestreaming immediately, but be patient!  It will be there later!  (And the best way to ensure that we are able to livestream is to make sure you have Subscribed to Knox’s YouTube channel!)

·       Communion Sunday – Next Sunday, October 3^rd, is Worldwide Communion Sunday!  We will be partaking of the bread of the promise and the blood of Christ… though it will be elements that we ourselves bring to the worship space!  There will be elements available for those who forget, but please try to remember to bring your own. 

·       October Preaching Series – Next week, we start a four-week journey through the book of Job, at the suggestion of one of our members (and a fortuitous conjunction with the Revised Common Lectionary!).  If you would like a text copy of the sermon series when all is said and done, please speak to Rev. Steve about getting it.
