Announcements

·       We continue to be cautious regarding re-opening for public worship again –please pray for wisdom and discernment as we consider the question. 

·       The Weekly Check-in with Rev. Steve on Zoom is held on Tuesdays at 3:00.  You can use this link if you wish to access the Zoom room (and any who wish to check in from Limehouse are also welcome!).

·       The Bible Study on the Epistle to the Hebrews has begun again!  We continue into Chapter 8 – this meeting is also on Zoom, and you can click on these words to activate the link to join in! 

·       Our music video today is a recording of “Wade In the Water” by the gospel acapella group Sweet Honey From the Rock

·       Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to the Easter Basket Brigade grocery card campaign – for those who have not yet given them in, please have the cards or the cash to the church or to Rev. Steve by March 25^th. 

·       Those wishing to contribute to the Limehouse Drive Shed repairs, please make any cheques out to the Limehouse PC Building Fund. 

·       Next Sunday, March 7^th, we will celebrate Communion together.  Please remember to bring your elements to your time of worship next Sunday!

·       The World Day of Prayer service is this coming Friday, the first Friday of March.  It will be done over Zoom, and it has been discovered that you don’t need a camera or a microphone in order to simply listen in!  The link is available on the sheet that was sent out with the announcements, and it should be very interesting as the nation that prepared the service is the island of Vanuatu, in the New Hebrides island chain, northeast of Australia!  The service starts at 7:30, and everyone is welcome to join in! (see attached announcement!)

·       Ilean Hancock was known to many in the congregation, although she had not been a member of any specific congregation for some time.  She passed last Sunday and her funeral was this past Friday, co-conducted by Peter Barrow and myself.

An update for all...

Dear Friends, Recently we've had a few rumors and misinformation circulating around the community, suggesting that Limehouse Presbyterian Church is closing. Nothing could be further from the truth. Like all other places of worship, we are still closed under the shutdown created by the Province of Ontario’s state of emergency, and will remain so until notified otherwise. I’m sorry for those who were concerned, and feared that the church was closing. I will continue to monitor this website and keep you posted on any new developments. In the meantime, look after each other, be safe, and pick up the phone and call a friend. We will all get through this pandemic together.

A letter of Encouragement for all.... April 01, 2020

Good day to one and all!
I hope everyone is keeping as well as can be expected during this time of crisis.  I know many are chafing at the restrictions, but I hope we can all understand that this time will come to an end!  The word from the medical officials all over the media is that this week, the first week of April, will be the critical week in “flattening the curve”, because in theory it will be the week in which everyone who was infected two weeks ago will be reaching the end of the worst of their illness and, by extension, the worst time of their ability to infect others!  However, we will still be “locked in place”, more or less, for at least a couple more weeks.  
This, of course, means that the church will not be open for Easter, something that I believe has happened only once in its history – in 1919, when the Spanish Flu epidemic caused churches to be closed.  Dawn Livingstone has sent over a wonderful article that was written a few years ago regarding the closure of Knox Church during that epidemic, and I imagine Limehouse’s experience was much the same!  I will still be recording and broadcasting services on Good Friday morning and on Easter Sunday itself, and I am exploring the theology of “communion with us all in our homes”, thanks to an item that has been circulated by the PCC!
Building Fund Sunday was supposed to be the last Sunday of April, but it looks as though we may be closed until at least the first Sunday of May, so this will have to be reconsidered by Session and the Board alike.  
Memorial Sunday was to be the last Sunday of May, but Session has resolved that it would be best if we combined its celebration with that of our 159th Anniversary in September!  More details on this decision will come out as time goes on.  
Donations and offerings to the church can still be made by mailing your offering envelopes to Bill Karn.  While we have been able to make all of our commitments to date, again, we don’t know how long this will last.  
Lastly, I hope those of you with computer access are able to enjoy the devotions and Sunday worship services being posted on Knox’s YouTube channel.  If you haven’t tuned in yet and have lost the link, you can find it at :  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9L5NMnLIPCcIPDz7LmvT8A or by searching for “Knox Presbyterian Church Georgetown” on the YouTube site itself.

God is with us in this time of trial, and we will get through it by being His Church – not in the building, but in our hearts and in our lives!

Good morning, everyone,


As you may have heard, due to the declaration of a State of Emergency by the Province of Ontario, with a stated request that churches and all other places of worship close to increase “social distancing,” we also will not be opening our doors on Sunday mornings for worship.  Knox, and every other church in Halton Hills (as far as I can tell), is similarly closed, as are all events that take place at the churches. 

We have no idea how long this closure will last.  We hope that it will only be the three weeks of the extended March Break period, but there are rumblings that it could be much longer than that.  It is possible that Easter will not be celebrated at the church, and even if we opened the doors, it would almost certainly not include communion.   

The elders of the congregation – Ted Brown, Cathy Brown, Bill Karn, and Ron Kirkwood – are hopefully going to be reaching out to everyone periodically over the next few weeks to ensure that everyone is doing as well as can be expected.  If you find yourself in a situation where the church can help, please reach out to one of them or to me and we will see what we can do for you! 


I will still be recording meditations on Sunday mornings and sending them out via the Knox Presbyterian Church Georgetown YouTube channel – the direct link (if you’re reading this on a computer or tablet) is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9L5NMnLIPCcIPDz7LmvT8A. 

Other items may be recorded on there as well for your spiritual edification during this time of crisis. 

For the moment, though, I would say again what I said on Sunday – let’s try to reframe this not as a time of panic, but a time of pause.  Let’s consider how God may be using this time to bless us, rather than give in to the fear.  Let’s see Him at work in us, with us, and through us, today and every day.

Coronavirus actions at Limehouse Presbyterian Church

Good day all,

With all the concern around the Coronavirus pandemic,  Rev Steve and Session have discussed the situation at Limehouse.

Tomorrow, March 15, Limehouse Presbyterian Church will be open for a reduced service, consisting of prayer and meditation.

At that time we'll discuss the future, when and if we will close the church for a few weeks.

In addition to this email, Session members will also be contacting their member lists by telephone, to ensure all have received this message.

If you are uncomfortable about attending tomorrow, by all means, stay at home and we will inform you all of the future.

Holy Week Services

Please mark your calendars for our special Holy Week Services.

Maundy Thursday, remembering the Last Supper Jesus shared with His disciples, will be celebrated on April 9th, with a pot-luck supper at 6:30 and the service to begin after dessert.  This includes the Lord's Supper.

Good Friday, remembering Jesus' crucifixion and death, will be celebrated at Knox Georgetown,

on April 10th, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Easter Sunday will be April 12th, when we celebrate the resurrection with Holy Communion

Easter lilies will be placed in memory of loved ones on Easter Sunday, April 12th. 

If you wish to order a lily, please contact Bill Karn by March 29th.
