Sermon: “Good News – Even Better Than Expected

Announcements

·         Maundy Thursday - On Thursday, April 6th, Limehouse will be hosting a Maundy Thursday pot-luck supper with worship to follow.  This time will recall Jesus' Last Supper with His disciples, when He concluded the meal by sharing bread and wine with them as the institution of the communion meal.  Supper will begin at 6pm and will be pure pot-luck - bring something to share!  The worship portion of the evening will begin between 6:45 and 7:00.

·         Georgetown Bread Basket - if you are thinking of making a donation to the Georgetown Bread Basket this month, the items in most need are juice boxes for students, individual pudding cups (preferably Chocolate), Instant Hot Breakfast Cereal, Ketchup and Sugar. Items can be dropped at the food bank, in grocery stores or at Knox and they will be delivered for you.

·         Retiree Men's Luncheon - Knox will be hosting the April meeting of the Retiree Men's Luncheon on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 12 noon. Volunteers will be needed to work in the kitchen, man the buffet table, cut pies, pour tea and coffee and wash dishes. If you are able to help in any of these areas, please advise. Dennis McLay.

·         Coronation Service:  Knox will be conducting a two-part service on May 6th to celebration the Coronation of our new King.  In the first part we will be streaming the Coronation from London in the Church.  In the second part we will conduct our own service.  This will be open to the public.  More details will be forthcoming once we known when the Coronation and coverage will begin.

·         Coronation Day May 6, 2023 – Limehouse Women and Men’s Association is offering English Tea Boxes to Celebrate the Coronation. Each box contains a selection of Tea Sandwiches, Sweet Treats and Tea Bags.  Enjoy by yourself or gather with friends. These are $15.00 each and must be pre -ordered before April 29. Pick up from Limehouse Church between 10:00am and Noon Saturday May 6. To order and for further details contact Cathy Brown 905-702-3883 or browncathym@hotmail.com

·         News from the Women's and Men's Association (WMA) We officially have changed the name of the Women's Association ( WA) to the Women's and Men's Association.  This change will not only make the wording more inclusive, we hope it will encourage men to come out to our meetings to help us plan and fundraise.  Watch for details on the first WMA meeting in the service notes.

·         Coronation Box Fundraiser- May 6th The WMA will be having our first fundraiser of 2023 on Saturday, May 6th.  We will be selling Coronation Boxes to help celebrate the coronation of King Charles.  Boxes will include sandwiches, sweet treats, and tea.  For more details or to pre-order contact Cathy Brown or watch for more details in the service notes.

·         If you are available on Saturday morning, March 25th, the Easter Basket Brigade needs drivers to help deliver the gift cards to those who will be receiving them!  Please meet at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church (11611 Trafalgar Rd.at 9:15 on Saturday - you will be given the cards to be delivered and the address to which you are taking them!  God bless, and thanks in advance from the Community Unity team.

·         Out of the Cold Update: as we near spring we have started to make plans for closing down for the year. Our last night of normal coverage will be April 9th (Easter Sunday). We will then transition to emergency only coverage until the night of April 16th when we will be completely shut down for the year. If spring weather arrives early, we may transition to emergency coverage sooner.

·         WA Annual Meeting: The WA Annual meeting will be held today immediately following church.  Anyone with items to add to the agenda or who would like to join the executive please contact Cathy Brown.

Steve by March 19th so that the baskets can be prepared on March 25th.  (If you give the money for Rev. Steve to purchase the cards, it will be credited to your charitable receipt for 2023!

·         Daylight Savings Time: Begins on Sunday!

·         Heritage Designation Update: Limehouse Church is proceeding with the heritage designation of the church and shed after a majority of the congregation voted in favour of the designation, 21 to 8. It has been included in next week's agenda of the HHH committee in order to add it to the heritage register.  The request to designate will follow in subsequent weeks.

Ron Clow - Limehouse PC is sad to have to announce the passing of Ron Clow last Sunday, March 5th, 2023.  A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date.  If you wish to send condolences, Joanne's address is 13-4081 Kilmer Dr., Burlington, ON, L7M 5B6
