Announcements

·       Baptism - Sunday, Limehouse welcomes Kevin Willett as a new Member of our congregation, receiving him through the Sacrament of Baptism and his Public Confession of Faith.  We pray for God's blessing upon him as we acknowledge the inward grace of God with the outward sign of water.

·       Georgetown Candlelight Tribute: May 5th at 6:30 pm, meet in Edith St Parking lot, will conduct a silent walk followed by laying of candles on the cenotaph at Remembrance Park in recognition of Victory in Europe (VE Day) and all Canadians who have served in times of War and Peace.  Speak to Charles Veale if you have any questions.

·       Return to Mountainview Residence - Rev. Steve has returned to doing worship services at the Mountainview Residence.  He will be there (usually) on the third Wednesday of every month at 2:00, and will visit residents before and after the services.

·       Pray also for:

- For all who have confessed their faith in Jesus Christ, but who struggle with the words and actions of their Church as they seek to walk in step with Him

- For those who struggle with releasing dreams of personal power when called to show holy grace

- For those who struggle with mental illnesses and/or brain injuries, as well as those who struggle to work with them

- For those who wear a uniform - police, fire, EMS, military, etc. - in hopes of making the world a better place through their service, and who sometimes fall in the line of duty

From St. John’s United Church and GFORCe 3:

 Belly Dancing

Please join us for a FUN raising belly dancing workshop on  Sunday May 15 @ 2pm or Thursday June 2 @ 7pm at St. John’s United Church 11 Guelph St. Georgetown

You can attend either session or both, if you like. Each participant will pay $30 per session (in advance to book your spot). We have a capacity of 25 people per class. 100% of the money collected will go to GFORCe3’s sponsorship of 9 Afghani Refugees, consisting of 2 related families (9 people in total).

About our instructor, Auni Boghossian: Auni has been dancing, instructing, performing and sharing the joy of dance for over a decade. Auni is generously donating her services for 4 sessions (2 in the Spring and 2 in the Fall) to help bring our Afghani families to safety. We are so grateful to have Auni’s expertise and for sharing the love of dancing with all of us! Auni’s approach to teaching is flexible and focuses on building relationships between body, mind, and rhythm. Auni suggests that we wear comfortable clothing that will allow us to move freely. For instance, leggings, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops will let our instructor see what your knees and elbows are doing, allow for feedback on technique and mobility (just nothing too loose!). Footwear can be dance shoes or running shoes.

Auni suggests that you bring: 1) a water bottle 2) a mask, depending on restrictions, spacing and your comfort 3) a positive attitude and 4) love for yourself. Auni will be teaching us Cabaret Style belly dancing.

In turn, you will have fun and feel good about your adventurous spirit, while doing a kindness for others. Please contact: Sue Sibley at SueSibley24@gmail.com  to reserve your spot and make your pre-payment.  Please note that your spot in the workshop will not be confirmed until payment is received. If you have any questions, please contact Lorraine Dennis, Sue Sibley, Lois Fraser, Susan Tupling or Jennifer Cardwell.

 Sincerely,

GFORCe3 and the congregation of St. John’s United Church

 Math Tutor Available

The St. John’s Church office administrator’s daughter, Olivia, is a high honours 3rd year university student. She is running high school math tutoring sessions. It’s the perfect time for consistent help, in preparing for exams. She is a seasoned tutor with 5 years of experience.  She is so gentle and caring and will help in many ways.  Homework + assignments + exam preparation.  Please pass on this info to anyone you know who might need help with math. She can teach in person, or on zoom.

Here’s a testimonial from April 2021: "I recommend Olivia Krul who can help. We hired Olivia to help my son with math this last semester and he went from just passing to mid 80's and we think higher. Book time in her calendar now. She explained it so easily for my son to finally understand. She helped prep for tests that my son rocked."
